Looks like the star hasn't reduced his asking price even after back-to-back failures...
Ranbir Kapoor is one of the finest actors of Bollywood and his performance speaks for itself. Be it Raj from Bachna Ae Haseeno, Samar Pratap from Rajneeti, Murphy "Barfi" Johnson from Barfi! or Ved Sahni from Tamasha, he has the talent to be a HUGE star. But unfortunately, this year hasn't been kind to him as Roy (Rs 44 crore) and Bombay Velvet (Rs 24 crore) tanked at the domestic box office, while Tamasha (Rs 52 crore) performed average.
However, the star's asking price hasn't gone down. A recent IT raid on the offices of Kwan, the agency that manages Ranbir Kapoor revealed that the actor was paid an eye-catching amount for Tamasha.
As a source reveals, “Tamasha hasn’t done the kind of business that everyone expected it to do, but it does not pinch the leading man too much. He was paid Rs 38 crores for the part.”
It was earlier also reported that Ranbir had charged Rs 30 crores for Bombay Velvet which made just about Rs 24 crore at the domestic box office. Yeah, we guess he got paid more than what the film made. Also, Hrithik Roshan, who has been in the industry a decade more than Ranbir, got Rs 50 crores for Bang Bang. Many other actors including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh have worked on commission or profit-sharing basis and RK has also implemented that in a few films. Looks like the Kapoor lad is on the right track maybe and he proves that if you have talent, you will be paid well and a few box office failures won't affect anything.
