Ayan Mukherji's ambitious project Brahmastra has garnered all the buzz since day one. Even more so because it is here where lovebirds Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's reel romance slipped into real-life and we are not complaining. But that's not all we are excited to see; the film itself packs a lot of intrigue and interest from whatever little we know of the supernatural story. But good news alert, we have something about Ranbir Kapoor's character and it's making us impatient for the film.
Reportedly, Ranbir will be seen playing the character of a DJ who is out to find himself and then becomes who he becomes. A source close to the film told Mid-Day, "Ranbir plays a DJ who walks out of his house against his father's wishes. The story then traces his journey as he tries to fulfil his dreams and discovers his superpowers in the process."

We also hear that apparently every character in the film possesses superpowers and Ranbir's Shiva has the power to unleash fire from his palms. WOW, right? "The film has some high octane action sequences. Ranbir trained in traditional Indian martial arts, including Kalaripayattu and Varma Kalai, before the film went on floors in 2017," added the insider. The Sanju actor has undergone training in various forms of martial arts for the role and for obvious reasons.
Earlier, Ayan had confessed that Ranbir was the first one the director called when he finalised the script of Brahmastra. He shared a picture from behind-the-scenes and wrote, "Ranbir - The absolute first person to have heard about Brahmāstra and the first to have jumped on for the ride! On a writing trip for Yeh Jawaani in May 2011, is where the idea was born... and Ranbir was my very first phone call. There is so much to share about B.āstra, but it is fitting that the first team member this Insta journey touches upon is... Ranbir aka Shiva aka Rumi aka Artist aka Soldier! More over the next few... #brahmastra #shivadiaries"
The Wake Up Sid director had also called Alia Bhatt the perfect combination of the elements of like fire, wind, water, sunshine and starlight. Ayan also shared how Alia had transformed from an 18-year-old when he had first met her to now. Meanwhile the Gully Boy actress has gone ahead and said that she was the one who pleaded Ayan to cast her opposite Ranbir in Brahmastra. In an interview with Firstpost, she said, "The idea for Brahmastra was conceived long back when Ayan had just done Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. I wanted to work with him and I have always wanted to work with Ranbir as well. I pleaded to Ayan that please cast me with him."
The fantasy action-adventure is yet to wrap up. The shoot will go on till July with a schedule in Mumbai and an outdoor too. It is all set to release in Christmas 2019. Apart from Alia and Ranbir, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy. Stay tuned to BL for more updates and scoops!
