An RTI reveals that the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had no legal permission to shoot for the film in Bhor, Pune...
Bajirao Mastani has just hit the theatres and we can't help but rave over this opulent period drama. But, there are some sections of the society who are miffed over the director of this film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and no, the reason is not political this time.
According to a news report in a daily, An RTI reply has revealed that Bhansali did not seek any permission to shoot for his film at Bhor near Pune. Advocate Wajid Khan opined that SLB shot for the movie between October 1 to 23 and he had not sought permission for the same. Khan had earlier lodged a complaint claiming that Bhansali had manhandled him during the shoot and he would go to the court for this offence.
Also, quite expectantly, the Bhartiya Janata Party workers tried to stall the screening of this film in Pune's Citypride multiplex today. The party workers started protesting outside the theatres and claimed that the film distorted the history of the great Marathas and did not accurately project the history of Peshwa rulers.
The film narrates the controversial love story between Maratha warrior Bajirao Peshwa and his Muslim lover, the warrior princess Mastani. Punekars apparently also had a problem with the way Bajirao's first wife Kashibai played by Priyanka Chopra is portrayed in the film as they feel it insults the historical figure.
