Vote for your favourite historical character...
So, Bajirao Mastani is just about to release and we are restless with anticipation if the film matches upto its gorgeous, grand trailer. History will repeat itself on December 18 as Shah Rukh Khan is all set to set the screen ablaze with Rohit Shetty's Dilwale and we have all geared up for a box office war. Ranveer sure looks promising as the valiant Bajirao Peshwa and while we wait to watch Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama, let's take a look at the prominent historical characters essayed by our filmstars. Take a look and tell us which one would you prefer the most!
Give us a shout out in the comment section below and vote for your favourite character out the following!
Aamir Khan - Mangal Pandey
Both the critics and the junta have not forgiven this 2005 debacle. Aamir played a 1857 revolutionary Mangal Pandey in this flick and though he tried to do full justice to his character, his efforts failed as the film bombed at the box office big time.
Hrithik Roshan - Emperor Akbar
The handsome hunk, the original Greek God of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan essayed the role of Emperor Akbar with aplomb in Ashutosh Govarikar's Jodhaa Akbar in 2008. He made Akbar look sauve, sexy and completely charming! Though people have not been very generous with period dramas, this film managed to break even at the box office, thanks to Hrithik killer looks coupled with awe inspiring sets and the beautiful Aishwarya Rai.
Abhishek Bachchan - Surya Sen
This 2010 flick went completely unnoticed at the box office and could not do anything to salvalage poor Abhishek Bachchan's career. The story line of the film is based on a the Chittagong Armory revolt in 1930 British India and Abhishek essayed the role of a key revolutionary Surya Sen aka Masterda. How many takers for this one?
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - Jodha Bai
She personified grace, poise and beauty as she brought alive the historical character of the Rajput queen Jodha Bai alive on screen in the Hrithik Roshan starrer Jodhaa Akbar in 2010. We were completely bowled over by Ash's mesmerising screen presence, what about you?
Ranveer Singh - Bajirao Peshwa
Fierce, fearless and brave, Bajirao Peshwa's popularity can be compared second only to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Maharashtra. Ranveer looks his part, at least in teasers, do you dig his Bajirao look?
Ajay Devgn - Bhagat Singh
This is one of the rare historical movies which seemed to have impressed the masses. Ajay gave a crackling performance as the fearless and rebellious extremist revolutionaty, Bhagat Singh. The Legend Of Bhagat Singh remains our favourite version amongst the host of other versions. What do you think?
Deepika Padukone - Mastani
The warrior queen Mastani, who was the second wife of Bajirao Peshwa, is not popularly known to people. Which is why it would be interesting to see how Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika flesh this character out together in the film.
Shah Rukh Khan - Asoka
The 2001 film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Hrishita Bhatt saw SRK playing Asoka. The actor played the emperor and the film showcased the dramatised version of the early life of Asoka of the Maurya dynasty. Though the film wasn't successful, it received a positive response at international film festivals.
