If you haven’t noticed before, a lot of brainstorming goes into making a perfect poster for the film. It isn’t just photoshopping cast of the film on a page. But making a poster holds the responsibility of being a tease. It should reflect the theme of the film and also restrain from giving out too much. Sometimes a poster just ends up being a collage of unrelated scenes of the film, but sometimes they are so very creative that they not only help a movie gain a strong fandom but gets etched in the viewer’s memory for a long time. We picked the top 10 movie posters of 2015-
The poster has a peculiar approach towards romance just like the film had. It uses the conventional pink font like a typical romantic film, while the characters on the poster are NOT displayed in a generic pose of holding each other, or in that locked eyes before locking lips look. Ayushmann Khurrana is carrying a slightly overweight Bhumi on his back, both covered in mud. “Love comes in all sizes”, the tagline says.
The first glimpse of Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor together once again after Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani was indeed pleasurable. The Tamasha poster was a trip to a fantasy world, while promising to deliver something new. Deepika and Ranbir are seen laughing, with Ranbir’s hand around her. And various depictions of popular sagas are visible etched in the clouds behind them. This made the audience curious about the new story that movie had to offer.
Everyone had been looking forward to this star studded film. The glamorous cast including Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor and Ranveer Singh became the talk of the town. And then the poster displaying entirety of the cast soaking up the sun on the deck of cruise sailing on the ocean arrived. Yes so much in one single poster. The poster hyped up everyone’s expectations from the film. Everyone was looking damn good. Even the dog looked super cute and tried to steal all the attention, and also turned out to be a major contributor to the story. Previously a poster was released but from a camera angle showing the backs of the same scene. Good tease, marketing team, good tease.
In this teaser poster to the song Mohabbat Buri Bimari from the film, Anushka Sharma is looking classy and elegant, while Ranbir Kapoor is aiming for suave with his suit and aiming for deadly with his gun, literally, and unkempt hair. Anushka takes the blu-black and gold-white debate to a whole new level with her beautiful gown. A heart is visible behind the duo, made of bullet holes, just a subtle hint to the dark romance surrounded by crime these two embark upon.
A flawed but entertaining blockbuster, this film was. The first poster showed not one but two Kangana Ranauts drooling over R. Madhavan. But far more subtly than Alone. While Tanu was seen dolled up in her wedding dress from the first film, smiling on the altar, we had lesser clue to who is the other Kangana Ranaut. The poster was meant to ignite curiosity about the film while giving a happy-happy feeling, which it successfully did.
The poster of this Shoojit Sircar film was a quirky take at the story of the film. Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and IrrfanKhan were visible on the poster. Deepikaholding a tray of medicines hinting towards the theme of the film, while Irrfan is holding a car over his head, again a blatant hint towards the road trip the characters take together. The poster is warm and charming. The font is very appealing as it is subtly infused with the Bengali flavour with a bindi for the tittle. The poster is subtly funny and quirky like the films was.
The poster featured a bloodied Anushka Sharma swinging a rod at someone while screaming. Now that’s certainly deemed to raise the inquisitiveness of fans. The scene teased was the very fabric of the climactic sequence where Anushka wrecks havoc on her tormentors. Anushka Sharma looks badass in this avatar, giving a slight shock as we were only used to see her in romantic bubbly roles till date. The poster uses the perfect shades of colour to depict the dark and gritty tone of the film.
While Bajirao, Ranveer Singh, looks royal and splendid in his Peshwa avatar, Deepika’s scintillating Mastani ensemble definitely deserves all the praises! Romantic? It’s an understatement to how magnanimous Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s chemistry is and the romance is literally oozing out of the poster. Not to forget the beautiful and ethnic feel of it! With the water splashing from behind and lotus in the pond, the poster sure is giving us a sneak peek on how colourful and glamorous the film’s experience is going to be! In the titular text only Bajirao is bloodstaind while Mastani is shining clear, and this arises speculations as of what it means.
“True story of a man who broke a mountain, for love”. The tagline on the poster was enough to intrigue the fans. And Nawzuddin Siddiqui slaying a mountain with a hammer was gasp inducing. If you look closely at the space between the H and I in the title, a tiny man breaking a mountain is visible. Such enormously fine detailing. The poster left anticipation of fans mountain high.
Saving the best for the last. Hunterrr. One overtly creative poster, in the longest time. And so aptly matching the adult comedy theme of the film. We see the cast in a banana. Really, no idea how else to describe it. But the blatant sexual innuendo towards the plot of the film is praiseworthy. Also notice the border of the poster. The name of the ladies engraved all around. And also “scoring” instead of releasing. So much in one poster.
