The two won the Best Actor and Actress titles at the prestigious awards
After sweeping a lot of awards at the popular awards, Amitabh Bachchan has won the Best Actor title at the 63rd National Awards for his brilliant performance in Shoojit Sircar's Piku. Along with Big B, Kangana Ranaut too won the Best Actress award for Aanand L Rai's Tanu Weds Manu Returns. After winning the award, BollywoodLife got in touch with Kangana to congratulate the actress on her victory.
The actress shared that she just congratulated Big B on winning the National Award. Kangana said, I was just exchanging messages with Mr Bachchan congratulating him on the win. I am very fond of him and he was also the first to wish me on my birthday this year. I got my first call from him. I call him 'Mahanayak' and it will be a very happy moment for me to share the red carpet and a photo with him. His performance in Piku was one of the greatest of all times and I am still in awe of him."
In an exclusive chat with us, the Tanu Weds Manu Returns babe spoke about how she felt upon receiving the award. The actress said, “It is a huge recognition to win the National Award. You get it from the President of India and it is a big moment for me. There no TRPs, there is no façade, there is nothing to gain from anyone, it is just a moment where the person is made to feel deserving. You don’t have to dance on stage or please anyone, the award is from the Government of India and there is a lot of respect and prestige attached to it. You can’t buy respect, you have to earn it. Unlike other awards where you have to be part of Bollywood royalty, the National Awards are given to anyone who is deserving. It doesn’t matter what your last name is or whey are friends with.”
