In an EXCLUSIVE interview with us, Richa said that she would have done a good job playing the lead in Queen and Piku but those films needed the bigger actresses. Read our excerpts from our interview....
You and actresses like Radhika Apte, Huma Qureshi etc have struck the right balance between commercial and offbeat balance. Did you plan on this when you came to Bollywood?
There is a change in the industry. There is a Queen, there is a Piku among the bigger actresses... all these films are finding an audience. We try to balance between commercial and niche and also the industry gives us scope to do that. Maybe 10 years ago it wasn’t possible, definitely not in the 90s and all. What is happening in the industry now is a symbiotic process.
Any roles in Bollywood from the recent past that you thought you could have done?
Definitely, I think both Piku and Queen, I would have nailed the characters but those films had the liability that they did. They needed the bigger stars to pull them off and I think both Deepika and Kangana gave their career-best performances.
