Richa Chadda's Masaan unveiled at 68th Cannes Film Festival- watch trailer!

We tend to forget that the Cannes Film Festival is not all about red carpet glitz and glamour, it is more importantly about good cinema from across the globe being recognised at such a prestigious platform. So when Indian films are chosen to be represented at the film festival, it is a huge deal of honour for our country! This year two Indian films, Masaan and Chauthi Koot have been selected in the Un Certain Regard category at the Cannes Film Festival. Yesterday, the Neeraj Ghaywan film, Masaan which stars Sanjay Mishra, Richa Chadda and Vicky Kaushal was unveiled at Cannes 2015 and it was received with a 5 minute long standing ovation! Masaan is a film about a lower caste boy who works at a crematorium in Varanasi (locally called a Masaan) falling in love with an upper caste girl. A parallel story-line runs in the story, that of the upper caste girl's father, played by Sanjay Mishra and a girl played by Richa Chadda getting embroiled in a sex sandal. The powerful film has been made by debutante director Neeraj Ghaywan who has assisted Anurag Kashyap in Gangs of Wasseypur.
