Bollywood filmmaker Kunal Kohli was one of the first persons to share the sad news of legendary choreographer Saroj Khan passing away. The 71-year-old lady, who as known for choreographing iconic songs like Dhak Dhak, Barso Re, Mere Haathon Mein and many more, had interestingly also worked in a Hollywood film as a choreographer. The film was The Gandhi Murder, featuring Stephen Lang and Om Puri in key roles. It was released on the death anniversary in 2019. It was released without any publicity.

Talking about it, Saroj Khan had told IANS in 2016, "I’m currently working on a Hollywood film, I have to reserve myself only for them. They haven’t named the film yet. It’s the story of three men who knew Gandhi is going to get killed but they didn’t help and didn’t stop that. I’m doing the choreography for that." Many Bollywood celebs mourn the demise of Saroj Khan including Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and others.
Choreographer and filmmaker, Remo D'Souza shared an emotional post for Saroj Khan as he wrote, "ot up with a huge pain in my heart ..... on hearing about your demise ,you were an institution in yourself ,the biggest loss to our dance fraternity.... was fortunate to dance under you , dance with you , choreograph you and choreograph with you and direct you .... willl never forget the love and the passion with which u would choreograph each song the passion in your eyes was like never seen before .... thank you for teaching me so much .... you will always be remembered and always in our hearts .....Saroji.... my condolences to the entire family ..... RIP mam."
