About seven months ago, Rishi Kapoor went to New York to undergo treatment for his undisclosed illness. The veteran actor requested everyone to not speculate about the same. However, reports suggested the Bobby actor was suffering from cancer. While Rishi, his wife Neetu, son Ranbir and everyone from the Kapoor family refused to speak about the illness he was diagnosed with, speculations refused to die down. In fact, the senior actor's elder brother, Randhir Kapoor, had to come out in open to dismiss all such rumours. That was then, now filmmaker Rahul Rawail, who has helmed movies like Anjaam, Betaab, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya and Arjun, has good news for all of us.
In a Facebook post, the director revealed that Rishi Kapoor is cancer free and we are so relieved to hear this. "RISHI KAPOOR (CHINTU) is CANCER FREE," he wrote. While a lot of people are happy to hear this, a few, on the other hand, still wonder if the actor was actually suffering from the ugly C.
Take a look at Rahul Rawail's social media post here:
Earlier, at Zee Cine Awards 2019, Ranbir had assured everyone that his father was recovering well and will be back in India soon. Dedicating his best actor award for Sanju to his parents, Rishi and Neetu, he had said, "I would like to dedicate this award to very special people in my life, starting with my father. He is going through a little bit of a rough patch in his life and I have often heard that whenever you come at crossroads in your life, you can really tell who you are as a person. Whenever I speak to him, he only talks about movies. He only talks about 'how is this film?', 'how is this film doing?', 'how is this performance?', what are you doing in this scene? And more so, he speaks to me about his insecurities that when he gets back, will he get to work in movies? Whether people will offer him films? Will, he be able to act in movies?"
On the professional front, the 66-year-old was last seen in Anubhav Sinha's Mulk. The courtroom drama featured Taapsee Pannu, Manoj Pahwa, Rajat Kapoor and Prateik Babbar in key roles and released on August 3, 2018.
