Bollywood actor, Riteish Deshmukh, has revealed some interesting things about his ambitious Marathi project, which is a biopic on the popular Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Riteish is expected to play the central character in the film that will be directed by National award-winning director, Ravi Jadhav. Talking about the film's progress, Riteish told Mumbai Mirror, "We have just finished our first draft and after a few revisions, we will get into prep. The film will roll next year."
The 38-year old actor also said that there are chances that they might make a bilingual film. "At the moment it is a Marathi film but by the time we go on floors, it may become a Hindi-Marathi bilingual. We will take a call on that later." Riteish has enjoyed a great amount of success as a Marathi film producer. His ventures like Balak-Palak, Yellow, Lai Bhaari and the recently released Faster Fene performed well at the box office. "I'm glad that the first few films we have produced have been in different genres and were appreciated by the audience. When you work with low budgets, one has no option but to work on content and within the space offered, scale up your product."
Riteish also recalls his late father Vilasrao Deshmukh, who had once had asked him as to why he was only focusing on Bollywood and not looking towards Marathi cinema. "At that point, no offers were coming my way but after a decade in the industry, I wanted to make films but wasn't sure what I wanted to produce. So, then, I decided to dive into Marathi cinema. The success of Balak-Palak encouraged me to push for something different."
On the work front, Riteish Deshmukh will be seen in Housefull 4 along with Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Sanjay Dutt. The film is set to hit screens on Diwali, 2019.
