Tamil film industry is mourning the death of Robo Shankar. He was just 46. Colleagues and fans have shared their recollections and favourite clips, recalling a performer who could light up a stage and a home room with equal ease. Shankar allegedly fell while filming a movie in Chennai and was taken to a private hospital. He was sent to the critical care unit after doctors noticed substantial changes in his blood pressure, according to India Today.
Despite diligent monitoring, his condition deteriorated, and he died a few hours later, leaving the business and his fans stunned.
Away from the spotlight, he had been through a terrible phase that few people were aware of at the time. According to the Times of India, following a string of high-profile roles on television and in films, he abruptly pulled back, sparking speculation.
Robo Shankar was an alcohol addict?
In a candid interview with Galata, he revealed that alcoholism had taken a toll on his health, forcing him to retreat. He warned others not to travel the same road and was open about how hazardous it became.
According to the Times of India, veteran journalist Nakkeeran Gopal gave a lifeline during that battle, and his timely response helped to turn the situation around. Shankar and his family continued to express their appreciation, constantly emphasising the value of that support during tough times.
How did he recover?
Following his recovery from alcoholism, he talked about taking things easy, spending more time with his loved ones, and appreciating the small, ordinary moments that he almost missed.
Dhanush stepped in to help Robo
Dhanush also stepped in during a particularly difficult time, providing urgent assistance when Shankar and his family were struggling financially. Shankar stated, "In just 10 minutes, Dhanush provided me with more help than I could have hoped for," a gesture that fans later praised as both generous and quietly transformative.
