Rock on was one film youth loved to be associated with. Rock isn't a genre loved by one and all and in Bollywood music, they have always been sweetened. Hardly have we gotten a true blue rock album of any film and that's where Rock On changed the trend. Every song was a rage and an anthem for many. Even today people sing the songs everywhere. The soundtrack of the film was one of the biggest reasons of the film's success. Naturally, expectations from the sequel's music was pretty high but as we told you earlier in our music review, Rock On 2 couldn't match the brilliance of its predecessor. Say for example the latest track that was released today Tere mere dil. Without Shraddha Kapoor, this song would have failed to make any impact as it is average at best.
To be fair to the track, I would say it started on a good note. It starts growing on you and then suddenly, it loses impact maybe because the song is pretty flat. Plus the visuals do nothing to make it an interesting track. Apart from a troubled Farhan Akhtar and a care taking Shraddha, the song boasts about nothing more. It could have been that soothing melody people would keep listening to all the time but it fails badly. But we have to agree Shraddha is perhaps the best addition to the Magik band. Her voice has such a calming effect that you will instantly like it. The actress should think about releasing her single because she has a gift and should explore more. Without her, the song would have been nothing. The only reason the song is worth a hear is her. Check out the song here.
If we talk about Rock On 2 album, our picks from the album are Hoi Kiw/Chalo Chalo, Jaago, Udja Re, Manzar Naya and Woh jahaan (just the hook line). Jaago's lyrics is motivating and is directed towards the youth. Vocals by Farhan Akhtar and support by Siddharth Mahadevan are commendable. The song has the potential to be next Sadda Haq and multiple hearing of the song might make it happen. Chalo Chalo is very high on energy and is the best in the lot. Overall, this album is a winner all the way for Farhan Akhtar, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and gang. The soundtrack has a perfect blend of rock, slow and sufi tracks and strikes a chord. Having said that, it doesn’t surpass its predecessor.
