But the filmmaker is going to team up with KJo for another project
The much awaited remake of 1989 hit movie Ram Lakhan has been put on hold by the movies’s director Rohit Shetty. This remake was thought to be a maiden venture between Rohit and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. However now it seems that we might have to wait a bit longer to see this merger since Rohit has shelved this dream project and their new project hasn’t been announced yet. Many actors including Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor were considered for the Ram Lakhan remake. However now that the movie is put on hold, their fans will have to wait.
Ask Rohit what is the reason behind this hold and he says that, “We are not doing it. Me and Karan are doing something else. Very soon, we’ll tell you what we are doing.” Rohit has even mentioned that all the actors wanted to play Lakhan’s role and no one was ready to play Ram. A movie with just Lakhan and no Ram is not possible at all. Also he believes that it is better he concentrates on one hero movie currently since all actors want to do that kind of movies.
Interestingly Jackie Shroff who played the role of Ram wanted Sidharth Malhotra to essay his role in this remake since he believed that the Baar Baar Dekho star has the same sincerity. While Anil Kapor wanted Ranveer Singh to play Lakhan and he does seem opt for this role. Nevertheless good news is that Rohit has temporarily shelved this project and he might attempt this remake in the future.
