And the records start pouring in...
Akshay Kumar is having the time of his life lately, if we talk professionally. Since he decided to balance out the various genres, it has worked out perfectly well for him. If he does a heavy duty Airlift, there is also a Housefull 3 to take the heat off. Then there is Rustom which falls in the thriller genre that released today alongside Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro. Now, Airlift was easily one of his biggest hits not only in India but worldwide too. In UAE-GCC, it had become the actor's biggest opener and now Rustom has taken the second spot.

Taran Adarsh had tweeted the figures of Airlift earlier this year of UAE saying, "#Airlift takes UAE and GCC by storm. Collects approx AED 900,000 [₹ 1.66 cr] on Thu. Highest opening day grosser of Akshay Kumar there." Now we have yet another Trade Analyst Komal Nahta's figures about Rustom which says how the film fared there. He writes, "#Rustom takes Middle East by storm. 2nd highest Akshay opener after#Airlift with approx. AED 1 million start on day 1 (Thursday). Cheerz." Films release a day earlier in that region and hence the numbers are already in. This means the film is going in a good direction in terms of box office collection.
As for India, we told you how Rustom is way ahead Mohenjo Daro in the occupancy race. Akshaye Rathi, our Trade expert and also an Exhibitor-Distributor himself, said, "“Rustom is significantly ahead of Mohenjo Daro till now. Rustom‘s opening occupancy across cinemas is anywhere between 40 to 50 per cent, while Mohenjo Daro‘s opening occupancy is about 30 per cent.” He also predicted the first day numbers of both films in the domestic market saying, "Looking at the current trends, Rustom will make Rs 12.50 crore to Rs 13 crore on day one, whileMohenjo Do will make Rs 8 crore to Rs 8.50 crore.”
It is clear that the trade is more hopeful about Rustom than Mohenjo Daro.
