100 crore is not far at all...
When two big films clash, one generally edges out and becomes a more profitable film than the other. In case of Mohenjo Daro and Rustom, it's the latter that has clearly decided to own the box office. After more than 60 crore opening weekend and 20, 27 crore overseas earnings, the film added another 7. 67 cr to its tally which took the domestic number to 75. 90 cr and that's incredible.
Taran Adarsh shared the numbers on Twitter saying, "#Rustom Fri 14.11 cr, Sat 16.43 cr, Sun 19.88 cr, Mon 17.81 cr, Tue 7.67 cr. Total: ₹ 75.90 cr. India biz. EXCELLENT!" Given the fact that Monday was an Independence Day, it earned a whopping 17. 81 cr which is the highest first Monday collection of this year. It even trumped Salman Khan's Sultan. Tuesday saw a big drop in collection but given the fact that it is the first Tuesday, the film has earned really good numbers. It has collected 7. 67 cr at a time when it has a film of another superstar Hrithik Roshan rivalling it at the box office.
Clearly, the bad word of mouth for Mohenjo Daro has worked supremely for Rustom which anyway was audience's first preference. It has been mired by a controversy regarding the inaccurate uniform of Akshay in the film but that hardly stopped people from favouring it over the Indus Valley Civilization story served by Ashutosh Gowariker.
