Saamy Square public review: Chiyaan Vikram steals the show in an otherwise humdrum affair – read tweets

Sequel to the 2003 release Saamy titled Saamy Square released worldwide today and a lot was expected of this cop story. Vikram plays the ruthless cop Aarusaamy while Keerthy Suresh and Aishwarya Rajesh play the female lead roles. Director Hari had said ahead of the release that the film has all the right ingredients for a Vikram fan to enjoy the most. However, audience and critics seem to have a different perspective to Saamy Square. Few felt that Saamy Square is damp squib, few said Vikram is the saving grace and many opined that the film could have had a lot more. Viewers also felt that Hari has only rehashed the old formula with a new screenplay in Saamy Square making it a monotonous experience. Read all the tweets about Saamy Square here:

The music of the film is composed by Devi Sri Prasad and as always, the expectations were quite high. But the film seems to have failed in that segment as well. The background score couldn’t really have an impact on audience and failed in parts, viewers felt. Keerthy Suresh and Aishwarya Rajesh have brief roles in Saamy Square as against the expectations of audience. Viewers wished to see more of these ladies in the plot but seems to have disappointed them.

Saamy Square had a huge opening in Chennai and other centres because of the obvious expectations, but the momentum might fade. Advance bookings may keep the film going over the weekend but the first week opening will be the real test for this cop flick.
