No surprises thee considering it's about our favourite personality. Furthermore, no other movie is releasing this week. So, we had to ask our trade expert what they were expecting from Sachin A billion dreams at the BO. Here's what Akshaye Rathi had to say:
"It's a docu-drama which is not in the commercial, mainstream format. The subject of this film is Sachin Tendulkar, one of the most popular icons, who is also a living legend in India. People don't just love him but worship him. Very honestly, this is one movie where it's about a person who has made India so proud that I wouldn't even like to try and analyse the box office figures here. This movie is not for the box office. This movie is a tribute to a man who has made the dreams of millions of Indians come true, who has given us so much of happiness every time he walked into the stadium with his bat. I really think it's not a good idea to judge this film by its box office potential. Just go out there and watch the journey for this legend." said Akshaye Rathi. Clearly, box numbers are NOT applicable to this legend, icon, star. Also Read: Sachin: A Billion Dreams movie review by MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and Indian Cricket Team
When asked about drawing comparisons to other films, Akshaye Rathi added, " You can probably draw comparison MS Dhoni even though that was a mainstream commercial film. But then again, Sachin has had a far far longer career, he has much bigger fan following which is unparalleled among sportsmen in India. But the format is a docudrama so let's see. For any docu-drama nobody would talk about a figure more than 3-4 crore, but then again it's Sachin so who knows it might make Rs 20 crore on Day 1."
So, all you Sachin fans out there, what do you think? The movie will hit theatres tomorrow in five languages - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and English. The film is directed by James Erskine.
