Last year in November, we told you that Pooja Bedi's daughter Alaia Furniturewalla is all set to debut in Bollywood with Jawaani Jaaneman, along side Saif Ali Khan, where the duo will play father and daughter. The premise of this slice-of-life film revolves around the relationship between father and daughter in recent times. Well, going by the plot, it seems that even Chhote Nawab's real-life daughter Sara Ali Khan would have been the perfect choice for the character, but Saif doesn't agree to that.
While talking to Mumbai Mirror, he said, “Alaia is perfect for the role. “I would have loved to have Sara in the film, but that would have meant her choosing this project over everything else she is doing as we wanted it to be the first film of the person we would cast. Sara’s career trajectory is in a good place and in a way I’m happy it’s separate from mine at the moment."
There were reports that Saif will play a 50-year-old Casanova in the film but the actor denied the news and said, “The reports are ridiculous. I am excited about producing the film with Jay (Shewakramani, producer) because it’s a team coming together to create a relevant family comedy. It’s a modern film that people will connect with on many levels.” Jawani Janeman will be directed by Notebook and Filmistan helmer Nitin Kakkar and will go on floors in June in London.
Meanwhile, Saif is currently shooting for Ajay Devgn and Kajol starrer Taanaji: The Unsung Hero. He plays the lead antagonist, named Udaibhan Singh Rathod. Directed by Om Raut, the period drama is mounted on a lavish budget of Rs 150 crore and will hit the screens on January 10, 2020. It will clash with Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak at the box office.
