The actor could not make it to the hearing today as he was busy shooting for a film
In 2012, just before the release of Agent Vinod, Saif Ali Khan got himself in an ugly brawl at Taj Hotel, where he allegedly attacked an NRI businessman. But never did he thought that the sudden rush of blood will cause him great trouble in later years. Saif is not just facing a legal battle as he has been charged of assault, but the centre is also considering stripping off the Padma Shri honour which was awarded to him in 2010.
Today, there was a court hearing on the assault charges pressed against Saif, but the actor was absent as he was busy shooting his film. Mumbai High Court has given another chance to Saif as he has been ordered to appear before the court on June 18 for next hearing. According to the onlookers, Mr Khan had punched a South African businessman Iqbal Sharma at Taj Hotel, where he was dining with wifey Kareena Kapoor Khan, sister in law Karishma Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan and Shakeel Ladak.
While Mr Sharma blamed the actor to hit him in fit of anger as he asked their group to keep it down, Saif had testified that the businessman had used abusive language against the women in the table. Now that the hearing has been postponed to June 18, we wonder if Saif will get a respite from this assault charge which is proving to be a threat to his Padma Shri honour.
