The Jodhpur Court shocked one and all yesterday (April 05) as it handed Salman Khan a 5 year jail term in the blackbuck poaching case. Charged under section 9/51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, the actor was taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail after the verdict, where he spent the night. And looks like the superstar is now preparing to argue his case once again at the Jodhpur Sessions Court. He has filed an application for bail and from what we here, the bail plea proceeding will begin from 10.30 am today (April 06). The defence has already prepared its argument on 54 counts, according to News18.
News18 reports that the defence has already submitted its 51 page argument in the Sessions Court and they are all set to put forth a very strong argument. They will argue that the eyewitness, Poonam Chand's account is not reliable. Salman's team of lawyers are also going to mention how Poonam Chand was two kilometres away and how he could never have reached the alleged crime spot in a matter of minutes, after hearing the gun show. They will also add how there is lack of evidence and gun residue at the scene of crime, so it is clear that the blackbuck was not killed by a gun shot. The defence will further add that the actor is paying price for being a celebrity and the 5 year jail term is too harsh. The Jodhpur Sessions Court will hear Salman Khan's bail plea at 10.30 am today. If he is given bail, the actor might be able to fly back to Mumbai by the end of the day, but if they dismiss it, the lawyers may approach the High Court in the afternoon too. However, if the High Court doesn't complete on time, then Salman might have to stay another two nights (Saturday and Sunday) at the Central Jail as the HC does not function on the weekends. The court proceedings will then continue on Monday.
