The verdict was out this morning and now the term is out too....
Salman Khan will be taken into custody by the Mumbai police today after the Mumbai Sessions Court announced it's verdict and held the actor guilty. The presiding judge DW Deshpande also pronounced a five-year jail term for the actor in 2002 hit-and-run case. Salman will have to surrender immediately and will be taken to the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai. While Salman Khan's lawyer produced the actor's medical reports and also asked the judge to consider the actors charitable work in the last few years before announcing the final decision. Salman's lawyer also instsed that the actor serve 2 years of prison and be fined. However, the prosecution felt that this should become a judgement that will set an example and the actor should be penalised and given the maximum sentence of ten years.
With the sentence finally out, the actor will have to serve a term of five years and will have to surrender immediately to the police. While Salman's sisters Arpita and Alvira are with him at the Mumbai Sessions court right now, his mother Salma Khan and Salim Khan are at his Bandra residence, Galaxy apartment. In fact Salman's brother Sohail had to rush home after his mother collapsed on hearing the verdict. Sangeeta Bijlani is also by Salma Khan at the moment. According to the judgement the actor will be arrested in the court itself and so his lawyer has now decided to appeal at the High Court.
Looks like Salman's family and friends will have no time to bid the actor good bye if he will be taken into custody today itself.
