The film has hit theatres along with Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur's Fitoor
After the success of Yaariyan, Divya Khosla Kumar has a new offering on Valentine's Day in the form of Sanam Re featuring Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam and Urvashi Rautela. This week is of romance as two films of the same genre release this Friday. While Aditya Roy Kapur romanced Katrina Kaif in Fitoor, Pulkit Samrat woos both Yami Gautam and Urvashi Rautela in Sanam Re. Our critic Sreeju Sudhakaran is watching Sanam Re at a theatre right now and has sent us his first impressions of the film.
Sreeju has, "Sanam Re is a love traingle with elements that are quite in owned by Bollywood romances, like childhood love, a hot third girl, a demure heroine, great songs, flashbacks etc. Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam play childhood buddies/potential love interests, who separate when Pulkit moves to Mumbai for better educational prospects. Let me start off with the positives of the second film that I am watching now. The film has some breathtaking locales, great cinematography, good looking lead actors and of course, Rishi Kapoor. Though these things work in the favour of the film, the film hardly moves much in the first half when it comes to the plot. Adding to that are a few humourless comedy sequences, a forced item song involving the director herself and many a clichéd scene. Due to these factors, the love story doesn't make an impact as it should have. The film reaches an interval point with a little twist. Let's hope the wheels really move in the second half!"
