We’ve seen the regular saas bahu sagas and the one sasural with no saas too, but Zee TV’s new show is something you will otherwise never witness
Satrangi Sasural is about seven mothers who are in search of a daughter-in-law for their one son. Vihaan Vatsal (Ravish Desai) lives with seven women who are like mothers to him. Each one of them loves Vihaan and have one day allotted to them wherein only they have a right to pamper and spoil him.
The back story of each of them somewhere boils down to how they hate men. While one’s husband left to take up sanyaas, the other one settled down in Canada with a new wife. One mother’s husband was a wife beater and seeing so many failed relationships one decides to never get married. Vihaan loves all his mothers equally and is the only one who can stop them from fighting over him.
Dadi Maa (Farida Jalal) who is the grandmother is extremely worried that no woman will ever want to be a part of a family with seven mother-in-laws. However, Vihaan has already fallen in love with Aarushi (Mugdha Chapekar) but will she be able to handle the terror that comes with seven MILs or not forms the rest of the story.
It is great to see Ravish Desai – the new found chocolate heroe in telly land. Ravish fits the character of Vihaan to the T and the mothers definitely have no option but to adore him. With a minimum male population in the show, Ravish will surely take away all the attention. Mugdha seems decent in her performance and shares a reasonable chemistry with Ravish, but the makers could have done better. The actors playing the seven mothers are all veteran actors, who have been in the industry for way too long to not be able to give brilliant performance.
The writers have done a fabulous job with the concept of the show and we believe it will be interesting to see how the seven MILs convince Aarushi aka Mugdha to be their daughter-in-law. There is a twist in the tale... Aarushi’s father asks for dowry in return for giving his daughter.
The lead actress Mugdha doesn’t seem to have much chemistry with Ravish. While she may be a decent actor, there’s scope for improvement. Wethinks the show should be a finite soap so that the makers don’t lose the main plot of the show and make it like any other daily soap. With so many actors on board, it becomes tad difficult to keep in check who is who.
Satrangi Sasural is indeed a novel concept and gives scope for a great storyline. So it’s safe to say that the show makes for an interesting watch for now. However, we give no guarantee as to how the show will turn, a few episodes down the line. Watch it if you have nothing else already scheduled for 10 pm.
