What a great time to be John Abraham. His latest release Satyameva Jayate has hit the ball out of the park. And this is happening when he was still basking in the success of Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, which only had it world TV premiere on August 15. Well, Milap Zaveri directed Satyemva Jayate has earned Rs 20.52 crore at the box office on day 1. By doing so, the movie has become the biggest opener for John. Not even Race 2 and Force 2 come close.
John's 2012 blockbuster, Race 2, was only able to mint Rs 15.10 crore. But that movie is a multistarrer. So, let us look at the numbers of a solo film for the actor. John's most successful solo release, before Satyameva Jayate, was 2016's action thriller Force 2. The movie was able to collect Rs 6.05 crore on its day 1. What do you think are the chances that Satyameva Jayate will become John's most successful movie to date? Satyameva Jayate still has the entire weekend ahead to collect more money.
BTW, while we are talking about the success of Satyameva Jayate, how can we not about Dilbar. We all have to agree that the immense success of Nora Fatehi's sensuous dance number was a contributing factor in bringing the audience to the theatres. BollywoodLife's Ankita Chaurasia also raved about Nora in her review of Satyameva Jayate.
Interestingly, Satyameva Jayate was able to mint these numbers despite not being a solo release. John's good friend, Akshay has also come out with film, Gold, this Independence Day. Also, Satyameva Jayate has been certified A by the CBFC, adding one more hurdle there. Despite these things working against it, John Abraham starrer is surprisingly doing good. Well, congratulations team Satyameva Jayate.
