The second week of February was no less than a seesaw ride with a case being filed against Shah Rukh Khan, Kangana Ranaut confirming being in a relationship, Amitabh Bachchan joining Ranbir Kapoor's Dragon, Jagga Jasoos going for yet another delay and finally, Akshay Kumar proving once again that he is the most bankable star with Jolly LLB 2.
Meet the top five news makers of the week.
Kangana confirms she is in a relationship
After being talk of the town last year, not for her movies but for other things, Kangana Ranaut revealed that how all those things didn't bother her and in fact she is in a relationship and wants to get married. In an interview with L’Officiel magazine, Kangana opened about her relationship as she said, “Yes, I am in a relationship. There is indeed a man in my life and I am enjoying it. I do want to get married. But not because I am 30 and time is running out. But then you know what, I have often chosen to fall for the wrongest guy in the world.” After making this fiery confession, she further added, “The best thing is that today many women, like me, have the choice to live independently and choose the kind of life we want.”
The curious case of an FIR against Shah Rukh Khan
Now this has to be one of the most WTF news of the week. Just last month Shah Rukh Khan travelled via August Kranti train from Mumbai to Delhi to promote Raees. At several stations public went out of control to get a glimpse of their superstar. What happened next was plain idiotic. Almost twenty days after the incident a railway vendor named Vikram Singh filed an FIR against Shah Rukh Khan, claiming that he was responsible for the ruckus at the station and damaging his trolley. If this wasn't enough, just two days later he decided to withdraw the case. Reason being he thinks he is too small to fight the case. He also made the revelation that his trolley was not damaged and in fact he wasn't even near his trolley when the ruckus happened. He also stated that he is clueless how it appeared in FIR. Well something's fishy going on here. Also read: Shah Rukh Khan was falsely accused? Railway vendor to withdraw the case - read details
Amitabh Bachchan joins Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt's Dragon
According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, legendary Amitabh Bachchan joins the cast of Dragon. He'll be playing a significant character in this superhero flick that stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Mumbai Mirror reports that Big B has been roped in to play an important role in Dragon. And he will begin shooting in the middle of this year. Just imagine two of the best actors of this generation going head to head with the best of the best.
Jagga Jasoos delayed again
While on one side, Ranbir Kapoor will be happy to finally be sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in Dragon, looks like he isn't very keen on sharing screen counts. Yes, reports are suggesting that long in the making Jagga Jasoos may see another delay and this time the reason is Amitabh Bachchan. The film was supposed to release on April 7, 2017 but with Ram Gopal Varma announcing Sarkar 3 starring Amitabh Bachchan on the same day, makers have decided to postpone the release. Reports also suggest that the film may release in May 2017 now. It was more or less confirmed by Vidya Balan's Begum Jaan co-producer Milind Dabke. Begum Jaan is up for an April 14, 2017 release. He feels he has nothing to fear. He says. “We have heard that Jagga Jasoos has got delayed and only Sarkar 3 is coming on April 7. A week is good enough to catch up. We don’t require two-three weeks as we are not a big film."
Jolly LLB 2 ensures a Jolly Good run for Akshay Kumar at the box office
Akshay Kumar starrer, after opening to below par expectations, find its way to the top with second and third day figures going for the kill. In first week of its release, the film has earned a massive Rs 77.61 crore at the domestic box office. It also became Akshay Kumar's fifth highest opening week grosser, beating Singh Is Bliing and right behind, Rustom, Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rowdy Rathore. But the film was unable to beat the opening week figures of Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil. Both of which clashed at the box office and were released on lesser number of screens than this Akshay Kumar's flick. However, Jolly LLB 2 is on course to be his fourth film into Rs 100 crore club, back to back.
