For all those who have grown up watching some classics will remember Gene Wilder for his remarkable role as Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. In fact, the film would not have been the same, had it not been the eccentric and funny presence of Gene Wilder who played Willy Wonka. The actor passed away at the age of 83 on Monday, August 29 after suffering from Alzheimer’s. It is said that he died of complications arising from the disease, as reported by Variety.com. The actor died at his home in Stamford, Connecticut.
It is quite a sad news and Shah Rukh Khan shared his grief of the same on his Twitter. In the morning, SRK tweeted, “My quiet exterior used to be a mask for hysteria.” RIP Gene Wilder. My growing up inspiration. Ur tender yet ‘wilder’ eyes will be missed." Well, here's something that we weren't aware of. First that the Raees actor was a fan of Gene and that he drew inspiration from the late actor. The late actor has given us a lot of memorable roles to remember and look up to. For times may change but his portrayal of characters in films such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Producers, Stir Crazy, Blazing Saddles will remain as a form of art and talent that are unforgettable.
Gene had gained massive fame for his portrayal of Willy Wonka, in the hit 1971 adaptation of the famous Roald Dahl novel. This film was again remade in 2005 with Johnny Depp taking up the popular role. Not just that, the original Willy Wonka remains a popular meme in the world of internet today. One look at his picture and you'll instantly relate the Willy Wonka picture to that of the meme. Not often it happens that a scene from a film finds its place in a respectable manner in the world of memes. But Wilder did. More like an look you use for sarcasm.

Wilder had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1989. Heartbreaking as it may sound but our favourite actor who brought Willy Wonka to life has passed away. Mel Brooks, the popular screenwriter. was one of Gene’s frequent and most successful collaborator. People loved their work on screen in the starting form the film The Producers, and then eventually repeating the success with Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. ‘One of the truly great talents of our time,’ Mel had tweeted out on Monday. ‘He blessed every film we did with his magic & he blessed me with his friendship.’
