Speaking about Raees’s clash with Sultan, SRK declares that his films do well despite releasing on the same date with other films
There’s a lot of about buzz already about the big clash of two most awaited films of 2016: Raees and Sultan. The fact that this is a clash between two mighty Khans of Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have got people all the more excited. It would an understatement to say that it would be thrilling to see two Khans at loggerheads at the box office.
When Shah Rukh Khan was quizzed about the same thing by a leading entertainment daily, he replied (in his trademark style) that there is no clash. “There is no issue... Let them also release. It’s very simple: their distribution and production offices feel their film should release on Eid, while my distribution office feels that ours is designed for Eid. So, we both have decided [on the same date], but there’s no clash the way it’s being made out to be," he said.
The Raees actor says, albeit confidently, that most (or all) his films which released on the same date as other films have done well. “Films will come and go. But honestly, it’s fortunate that whenever my film has released with another one, we have, by God’s grace, been safe every time. It doesn’t make me pompous when I say that my film has done well,” he told the daily. He reasons that it is imperative that some films clash over the weekend with so many releases every year.
On speaking about announcing release dates in advance, King Khan scoffs at production houses that do so without completing shooting their films. He, holding no bars, calls them stupid. He even doesn’t spare his friend, Karan Johar. “ I often tell Karan (Johar; director), 'Why are you announcing it so much in advance? Shoot first.' Our company has a simple funda — when we finish 50 percent of our shoot, only then are we somewhat assured that it will be completed [by a certain date],” he added.
