Sanjay Leela Bhansali is looking to replace Ranveer Singh in Padmavati, if rumours are to be believed!
What in Devdas' name is happening with the casting office of Padmavati?
Earlier, there were a musical chair game going on between Shahid Kapoor, Fawad Khan and Vicky Kaushal as to who would play Deepika Padukone's husband in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next magnum opus, Padmavati. The film is based on Queen Padmavati's fable, whose famed beauty made the then Delhi emperor, Alauddin Khilji, obsess over her leading to a disastrous love triangle. Ranveer Singh was supposed to play the Sultan of Delhi, especially since Sanjay Leela Bhansali was so impressed with his Bajirao Mastani hero.
However, there have been rumours that there is a little tiff going on between the director and his fave actor. If sources are to be believed, the director is pissed with Ranveer, as the actor reportedly asked for a script before giving his final nod. Now he is looking for a replacement for him, and the said person is none other than King Khan himself, Shah Rukh Khan.
Now Shah Rukh Khan has done one period, kingly film and that happened to be Asoka. The disaster that it was, it made SRK from trying out any such ventures in the future. So we are not sure whether he would agree to play the lead here, if the rumours are to be believed. Also, Shah Rukh Khan is quite busy with the two films in hand with both Imtiaz Ali and Aanand L Rai, and he won't be able to give that bulk of the time SLB may need for his period drama.
Yet, this is Bollywood and anything can happen here! So we ask you, readers, who do you think would be a better lead for Padmavati - SRK or Ranveer Singh?
