Because a clash is definitely inevitable! Read on...
We've already seen the repercussions of Hollywood and Bollywood clash this year with the failure of Shah Rukh Khan's Fan, Katrina Kaif's Fitoor and John Abraham's Rocky Handsome to earn bucks at the box office! As you all know the year started with a bang, courtesy Akshay Kumar's Airlift that raked 100 plus crores at the box office. For almost three initial months of the year, Kumar's Airlift stood tall with the highest grosser of 2016 status. But that changed when Disney's The Jungle Book made it's way to the Indian theatres. Not only did Disney's The Jungle Book wipe out Shah Rukh Khan's Fan in the box office race but also raked crazy money!
This year is literally the best year for moviegoers be it Hollywood releases of Bollywood masala lovers. However, this one particular pattern that we noticed about the films success has sort of made us a little skeptical about the future Bollywood and Hollywood clashes. Let me explain a little more. Katrina Kaif's most anticipated film, Fitoor clashed with Deadpool at the box office and the Ryan Reynolds starrer literally swept off Fitoor's business! Well, that was just the start. Then came Batman Vs Superman that clashed with John Abraham's Rocky Handsome. While John had clearly stated that he was not afraid of the competition that B vs S had set, little did he know that irrespective of the terrible Karan Arjun drama of the Ben Affleck starrer, Rocky Handsome still failed to shine. Then came Neel Sethi starrer The Jungle Book that preponed it's release date to avoid competition with SRK's Fan. But JB's cinematically blissful content wiped out Fan's entire business and even rose to become the highest grosser of 2016!
And now we have Sunny Leone battling the clash of Captain America: Civil War with her film One Night Stand! Knowing that CapAm has won hearts abroad, the release again is very promising and could be a major threat to One Night Stand. Said that, we decided to look deeper into the second quarter's releases and we've just realized that it's gonna be a tough go for Bollywood films as a lot of fantastic and highly anticipated films will be making their releases! So check out all the Bollywood Hollywood clashes of second quarter of 2016 below!
One Night Stand vs Captain America: Civil War
Sunny Leone and CapAm will have a face off this week as her film along with Manoj Bajpayee's Traffic, Sharman Joshi's 1920 London and Yo Yo Honey Singh's Zorawar.
Angry Birds and Azhar
Emraan Hashmi, Nargis Fakhri, Prachi Desai starrer Azhar will be clashing with Angry Birds on 13th May. Already having won hearts as a mobile game, we wonder how challenging it will be for Azhar to conquer the box office.
X-Men: Apocalypse and Sarbjit
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadha starrer Sarbjit will have to compete with Hollywood's biggest franchise, X Men on 20th May, whose trailer has already sent fans on a tizzy!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Housefull 3
Although TNMT and Akshay Kumar's Housefull 3 aren't clashing on the same date with the films releasing on June 10 and 3 respectively. However, we've seen what Jungle Book did to Fan even without clashing so technically, with just a week away, this too qualifies as one!
Now You See Me 2 and Udta Punjab
The first film Now You See Me had already made a huge impact on the audience owing to the sequel which we are sure will be just as rocking as the first part. Will Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh's magic conquer Now You See Me 2's charm?
It is a matter of interest to learn that Salman Khan's Sultan will be having a clear release with no clashes whatsoever. Looks like Bhai made a smart move by moving away the film's competitors! What are your thoughts on this? Do you think a Hollywood film will emerge victorious in the second quarter as well? Tell us your views in the comments section below!
