The versatile actor of Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor is all set to turn producer for his upcoming venture Dingko Singh biopic, where he will also portray the titular character. The biographical sports drama will be directed by Raja Krishna Menon, who previously helmed Akshay Kumar's Airlift and Saif Ali Khan's Chef. It will be based on the life of legendary Manipuri boxer Ngamgamo, who won a gold medal at the age of 19 in 1998 at the Bangkok Asian Games, which was held in Thailand.
As per the Mumbai Mirror report, the source close to the development said Shahid has brought the rights of Dingko Singh story and has appointed Raja Krishna Menon to direct the biopic. “Now, they have joined hands to produce the film. It will be shot primarily in Manipur, besides Delhi, while an international schedule is also being planned.” The source further said, “It’s a difficult script to write, so it has taken time, but it will go on the floors this year.
Raja is currently putting the research together with his writers.”
The film is currently in the scripting stage and will go on floors later this year. Meanwhile, Shahid is currently shooting for Kabir Singh, which is the remake of Vijay Deverakonda's Telugu hit Arjun Reddy.
