Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh starrer Udta Punjab has become Censor Board's new target of censorship. The film, that sheds light on the incessant drug abuse in the land of five rivers, Punjab. However, the process of the film getting a pass from the Censor Board might be a tough path. According to leading portals, the film has been grounded by the board over excessive use of swears and cuss words. The film's release has been put to a halt. A source has even claimed that one of the producers of the film, Anurag Kashyap, has approached Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for I&B (Information and Broadcasting) for the same.
As it is the trailer of the film spoke volumes of abuses that everyone should be prepared of. Even in the trailer, a lot of swears and cuss words were floating about by Shahid, Diljit and others. We were more than prepared for the swearing but looks like the Censor Board wasn't. In fact, it is quite surprising that the board decided to ground the film over this issue as it was very much expected of the film and didn't do much about it when the trailer was released. Cuss words and bad language is anyways a part of the film as the makers wish for authenticity. Fans have gone berserk in anger as everybody has lashed out at the board and called it names. #ShameOnCensorBoard has also started trending as fans release their anger.
