The IPL team owner has been convicted of betting by the Supreme Court, as he awaits the sentence from newly formed panel
In our country, cricket and films go hand in hand, and their association goes way back in time. Before Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma relationship sparked a lot of interest in Bollywood and cricketing world, we saw the grand union of movies and cricket when our B-town celebs took active part in buying IPL teams back in 2008.
However, during IPL season 2013, the ugly underbelly of this Bollywood's association with cricket was exposed, when the entire tournament was hit by the betting and match fixing controversy. Shockingly, BCCI chief's son in law, Gurunath Meiyappan and Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra were accused of betting. After almost one and a half years after the controversy, the Supreme Court has finally announced it's verdict.
In a 130 page verdict, the Supreme Court gave clean chit to BCCI chief N Srinivasan and found Meiyappan and Raj Kundra guilty of betting. While the SC is yet to decide the punishment of those found guilty, there is a possibility that Shilpa Shetty's Rajasthan Royals may lose it's place in Indian premiere league. While RR fans would be worried about the fate of their team, we wonder Shilpa is handling the situation
