Television actor Shilpa Shinde, who used to play the role of Angoori Bhabhi on &TV’s popular show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai, recently hit the headlines for filing an FIR against the producer of the show, Sanjay Kohli for sexual harassment. The news comes one year after she quit the show mid way. She claims that Sanjay used to pass comments like ‘You are looking, hot sexy’ on her when his wife Benaifer did not use to be around. She even revealed about an incident when he touched her inappropriately on the pretext of clicking a picture with her.
"Often, he would he pass remarks like: I like you a lot. You are very sexy. You are very hot. And while saying such things, he would hug me forcefully and would touch my waist and breasts.I would resist but he would brush aside the incident saying: Oh, it was a mistake. Come on yeh sab toh chalta hai. For a long time I kept quiet because my money was pending with him and I feared that I would not get my heard-earned money,” Shilpa said in a statement.
Shilpa says that she brought this up with her co-actor Saumya Tandon as well. “I spoke to Saumya also about this, but she was like – ‘Humari industry mein koi rape nai karta Shilpa’. But I told her that I was feeling very uncomfortable,” she says, adding, “Later I got to know that Saumya told Benaifer (co-producer Benaifer Kohli, Sanjay’s wife) because two days later Benaifer asked me if I wanted to leave the show. She told me - ‘yeh kya keh rahi ho tum…koi pyaar se baat karta hai, toh tumhe yeh sab lagta hai. Humein do minute lagenge tumhara career spoil karne mein.’
Saumya Tandon, who plays Anita in the popular serial and has been part of the show for two years, has surprisingly denied Shilpa's claims. "I strongly stand against any kind of sexual harassment of women at work or any place. Having said that, there was absolutely no communication between Shilpa and me about this. Personally, my interactions with my producer has been very professional and I didn't face any problem. I can't comment on Shilpa's case as I am not aware about it," Soumya told DNA.
Shilpa is hell bent on getting the producers arrested. “I am going to court. I am not going to leave them. Inko andar daal ke rahoongi,” she said. As per a report in Zee News, the makers have released an official statement that reads, "All we can say is that matter is subjudice, we have full faith in the judiciary. We will see her in court. We don’t want to give her unnecessary importance for her obvious false allegations.”
