Racism and nepotism are two topics Bollywood and its fans are arguing at this moment. While nepotism has brought a lot of ire to Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan and Saif Ali Khan for their jokes on the same at IIFA, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has brought the topic of racism back to prominence with his cryptic tweet that he posted last night. He had posted, 'Thank U 4 making me realise dat I cannot b paired along wid d fair & handsome bcz I m dark & not good looking, but I never focus on that.' At that time we didn't know in what context Nawaz was talking about, but later we found that he was tweeting in reference to an interview one Sanjay Chauhan, the casting director of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, had said in an interview that "Keeping Nawaz in mind, all other characters were taken on board. We can't cast fair and handsome people with Nawaz. It would look so weird. You have to take people with distinct features and personalities when pairing them with him." No wonder...
Well, when Shraddha Kapoor was asked about this during the Haseena Parkar trailer launch that happened some time back, she went on a more philosophical note saying, "My definition of beauty is completely different and I think it's skin deep. You know you can come from any background, you can have ethnicity, you can have any colour - I feel that true beauty radiates from within and of course, such issues are there. But, I disagree that it's only prevalent in the film industry. Our industry is more in the limelight and things tend to get highlighted a bit more. I was on a show We The People and we are talking something different - we were talking about the Hindi language. Is it cool to talk to Hindi or not? I will give you the same analogy. I feel there are pressures in so many different ways. What's really important is that how we deal with such situations and pressures. I truly feel that there are pressures but how you handle it is more important."
Well, what do you have to say about Shraddha's opinion on racism?
