She maybe just six films old but Ms Kapoor has already become the box office darling. And that is something which not many people have noticed. But that's not the case with us...
I am pretty sure very few of you remember that Shraddha Kapoor made her Bollywood debut with Amitabh Bachchan. Their film Teen Patti released in 2011 but failed to make any impact at the box office. While the ABCD 2 actress hardly got noticed in her first film, she came back with Yash Raj Films' venture Luv Ka The End and announced her arrival in Bollywood. Though Shraddha's second outing wasn't a mega hit, it held her grab limelight and then since there has been no looking back for this B-town beauty. The Kapoor gal next starred in Mohit Suri's Aashiqui 2 alongside Aditya Roy Kapur and together these two actors literally stormed the box office. Aashiqui 2 turned out to be the biggest musical blockbuster of 2013. In the following, Shakti Kapoor's beti had another blockbuster to her name and this one too was also helmed by Suri. Yes, I am talking about Ek Villain which also featured Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh.
After giving two back-to-back blockbusters, Shraddha Kapoor did a Vishal Bhardwaj film and proved her versatility an actress. Not only the film won 5 National Awards, Haider also became the first Indian film to win People's Choice Award at the Rome Film Festival. The desi version of Hamlet made enough money at the domestic box office to be declared a hit. The fact that SK stood out in Haider amidst actors like Tabu and Shahid Kapoor says a lot about the her screen presence and talent, hai na?
And now Shraddha's latest outing with Varun Dhawan has got off to flying start at the box office not just in India but overseas as well. ABCD 2 which is directed Remo D'Souza hit the screens today and going by the early trend it seems the dance film may very become the biggest opener of this year. This means one more smash hit under Shraddha Kapoor's kitty, right?
While everyone has been talking about Varun and how he has established himself as a bankable star, I feel his co-star is no less as far as pulling in crowd to the cinema halls is concerned. Well, her box office track record speaks volumes so I don't really need to say anything further except for that's it high time this babe is given her due. Agreed guys?
