A year has 52 weeks and Bollywood churns out way more than just 52 films in a year. So, clashes are really inevitable. However, that's not to say that filmmakers don't cringe every time they have to compete with another film to get more attention upon release. And rightfully so. But the bigger challenge is deciding which film to clash with.
Seems like after averting a clash with Akshay Kumar-starrer, Toilet - Ek Prem Katha, the makers of Haseena Parkar had to make the difficult decision of locking horns with Sanjay Dutt's comeback film, Bhoomi. While it was definitely a wise move to not take on box office darling, Akshay's film, will Sanjay's Bhoomi not pose a threat to Shraddha's film? Well, that's something that only time will tell. (Bhoomi new poster: Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari's father-daughter bond will be the crux of this revenge drama)
While Haseena Parkar had made headlines for Shraddha's look in the film thanks to her amazing transformation, it hasn't exactly been able to keep the buzz alive. Sanjay Dutt's Bhoomi, on the other hand, has always been in the news as it marks the return of the actor to films post his jail term. With both films slated to release on September 22 now, it is time for Apoorva Lakhia and team to pull up their socks and promote their film intensively.
However, it is inevitable that the two films will eat into each other's business, as is the case with any box office clash. Even if both the films are critically acclaimed and are finding an audience, it is often seen that no film benefits out of it since the audience gets divided. The same was the case with Raees and Kaabil, both of which could have worked much more had they been solo releases. At a time when Bollywood is already suffering from a slew of non-performing films, it is indeed disappointing to see two films with great potential releasing on the same date. But since there's nothing that can be done about it, let's wait and watch as to which film wins the battle of the box office...
