Recently, during a press interview, Ayushmann Khurrana said that same-sex marriages had been legalised in the country. It was a shock for everyone and left many aghast as an actor who has always been vocal about issues and thus representing them in his conversations. In 2018, the government of India decriminalised homosexuality in the country by scraping section 377. Fans responded to the actor's slip of the tongue. While talking to the press recently, Ayushmann had said, "We are really proud that we are supporting the community. Our country is very progressive that it legalized same-sex marriages." Ayushmann admitted his mistake and apologised by taking to his Twitter handle. "A genuine slip here though I really wish same-sex marriages get legal in India," he wrote.
