Siddharth, Lakshmi Manchu mourn the death of Aloysius Vincent

The Malayalam cinematographer-filmmaker died of pneumonia at the age of 86

Indian cinema is in one of its most saddest days. Veteran cinematographer, Aloysius Vincent, who has shot Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malyalam films has left for his heavenly abode. He passes away at the age of 86, suffering from pneumonia. The legendary artist was admitted at a hospital in Chennai few days back. Many famous celebs from across Indian cinema fraternity took to social networking sites to express their condolences for him. Siddharth tweeted, "The legend Aloysius Vincent has left us. Director, cinematographer par excellence. What a legacy he leaves behind! Salute you sir... RIP." Lakshmi Manchu tweeted, "RIP one of the great greatest DOP that the world cinema has ever seen. You are a genius. His career spanned over nearly five decades, where not only he mastered the art of cinematography, but he also went on to direct 30 films in Malayalam, one of the most popular being Bhargavi Nilayam. Not just that, he also had the opportunity to work with actors like NT Rama Rao, MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalitha, who later went on to become chief ministers in the later stages of their lives. Some of his notable works are Enga Veettu Pillai, Kadhalikka Neramillai and Bhaktha Prahlada. He also won the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography for Rajesh Khanna’s Prem Nagar. It wasn’t even a week since the great movie mogul Ramanaidu passed away. And now with the sad demise of Aloysius Vincent. May his soul rest in peace!
