Star Plus is coming with a string of new shows under its new tagline 'Nayi Soch'. While Naamkaran, P.O.W, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil have already gone on air, there are shows which are yet to roll. One of them is an adaptation of a Turkish show ‘Ask-i-Memnu’ (English:Forbidden Love). Co-Produced by Edgestorm Productions (which has made reality shows like D4 – Get Up and Dance) and Vikram Bhatt, the yet-to-be-titled show will see a lot of comebacks.

The original show ‘Ask-i-Memnu’ revolved around the life of a middle-age man who finds love in a girl half his age. It's being said that seasoned actor Samir Soni, who was last seen in &TV's Darr Sabko Lagta Hai, will play the lead role while Smriti Kalra of Itti Si Khushi fame will play his love interest. Also joining the cast will be Heena actress Simone Singh, who was last seen on TV in Ek Hasina Thi. Reports suggest that the pilot has already been shot.
Simone, who is presently in London, said in a statement, “Well, I am neither confirming nor denying this news at the moment.” If rumours are to be believed then she has been approached to play the role of a mother in the show. Simone Singh has been away for a long time now and her fans are eagerly waiting for her to comeback on the small screen.
Aşk-ı Memnu has been dubbed in many languages, including Persian, Urdu (Ishq-e mamnoo), and Arabic. The show,which was a blockbuster in Turkey, was a major hit in Pakistan with 11.9 ratings on its last episode. If wikipedia is to be believed then this show was the first foreign drama to get this level of viewership in Pakistan. It's said that it was seen by more than 90 million people in Pakistan.
