The Tamil film Bad Girl has recently been made available to be streamed on JioHotstar. The film has received a lot of attention from both celebrities and fans alike. It was directed by debutant Varsha Bharath and hit the big screens on September 5. Produced by Vetri Maaran, the film was a topic of discussion because of its fearless and bold themes, as well as controversial narratives. The film’s digital release took place on November 4, 2025. The famous Made In Heaven actress Sobhita Dhulipala recently took to her Instagram account to express her admiration for the film, mentioning how it made her tear up.
Sharing her applause for the movie, Sobhita penned down, "Bad girl had me smirking AND tearing up. I felt seen. Beheld. A film that ripens by the minute. Heavily recommend to everyone, especially the girls. This one's for us, y'all. Shout out to @varsha_bharath03 and @anjalisivaraman; you guys are simply beyond (sic)."
The latest film stars Anjali Sivaraman, Hridhu Haroon, Teejay Arunasalam, and Shanthipriya in the lead roles. Available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi, it even has English subtitles, which makes it accessible for a wide and varied audience.
Before the film’s release, it had received a mixed reaction from the audience. Some people and viewers thought that it portrayed particular themes in an unacceptable manner. The audience, as well as some popular Kollywood directors, objected to the way the film had showcased the portrayal of the Brahmin community in it.
However, despite the controversies, the film gained a lot of attention globally and even won the NETPAC Award at its premiere in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Grass Root Film Company, the banner behind the film’s production, had revealed that Bad Girl would be their last production. He made the announcement by saying, “To be a producer is extremely challenging. People like me borrow money to produce a film. So, 'Bad Girl' will be our last production venture at Grass Roots. We're closing doors."
