Sonakshi Sinha has finally let go of her days of being arm candy to her 'trying to look macho saving her' leading men. Sonakshi Sinha had already shown potential she can be more than a damsel in distress with her moving performance in Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera, where she co-starred with Ranveer Singh. She also proved she can kick ass as convincingly as the heroes she used to be paired once with, in Akira. Though we didn't love how her character was portrayed in Force 2 (a bumbling RAW agent who needed the hero to guide), it was still better than what Sonakshi did in Action Jackson, Rowdy Rathore and R...Rajkumar. And next year, we will see her in an author backed role in Noor, where she plays the title character.
Noor is based on a novel by Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz, called Karachi, You're Killing Me!. Though the novel is based in Karachi, the makers have taken creative liberties with the script and have set the character and locations around in Mumbai, where Sonakshi plays a journalist. It's her journey through the field of media, covering dangerous stories while also straightening out her own life and passions. And before you say it, it's not a breezy Page 3. Sonakshi has revealed the above poster and the release date of Noor, on Twitter and her Insta account, with the caption 'She’s sunshine mixed with a little hurricane. She’s every girl. She’s #Noor #IAmNoor Now arrives, 21st April, 2017 @TSeries @Abundantia_Ent'. Sunshine mixed with a little hurricane, huh? BTW if you have missed it the film is coming out on 21 April next year.
Earlier speaking to a media portal, Sonakshi had this to say about her role, "I’m excited about playing Noor. I can’t wait to bring this character to life under the vision of Sunhil Sippy. Noor is a bundle of contradictions, she’s every girl, she’s me. And she’s a character everyone will love."
The film is directed by Sunhil Sippy, who has this say about Sonakshi's character, "Sonakshi represents a real girl who struggles with real-life issues. There’s an immense sense of relatability to her because she, as an actress, has the courage to present her vulnerability,” Sippy said.
Apart from Sonakshi, Noor also stars Youtube star Kanan Gill, Purab Kohli and Sunny Leone in a cameo.
