Sonakshi Sinha's Noor didn't have a great buzz around it although the trailer looked pretty interesting. But we were of the belief that since Akira found some takers at the box office, Noor, too, would manage to get the youngsters to theatres, if not more. But with a collection of just over Rs 5 crore on its opening weekend, it won't be wrong to say that Sonakshi's last release has failed to make the cut. In fact, it is nowhere near the actress' last women-centric film, Akira. The action packed film had earned Rs 16.65 crore on its opening weekend.
Taran Adarsh revealed the figures of Sonaskshi's last release Noor which paints a really disastrous picture about the film. He writes, "#Noor has a dull weekend. Biz saw growth, but not substantial enough... Fri 1.54 cr, Sat 1.89 cr, Sun 2.09 cr. Total: ₹ 5.52 cr. India biz." As you can see, Sunday saw a negligible upward swing and thus, nothing could be salvaged. In fact, Akira had managed to earn Rs. 5.15 crore on the opening day itself. It clearly shows that Akira got more love from people because it had a premise of a girl beating s**t out of guys which is very rarely seen in films these days. Check out the numbers here again...
Reviews have been mixed too. Bollywoodlife's Sreeju Sudhakaran wrote, "Noor has its flaws, and it certainly isn’t this year’s Queen, if you really want to get into comparison mode. But Noor still manages to endear to you with its light-hearted, fresh treatment and Sonakshi Sinha’s winning performance, if you don’t attach too many expectations." But there were those who didn't quite find the film interesting. India Today called it, "Noor is insufferable, boring, tedious, torturous, f... words will not be enough to describe how bad the film is." Akira didn't get rave reviews either but it still managed to to draw crowd to the theatre.
We have our doubts if Noor will recover from this setback at all in the coming days. What do you think?
