The singer is accused of having hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus
With every passing day, a new controversy seems to spring up around the self-proclaimed vatar of Godess Kaali, Radhe Maa. While a lot of people including celebrities have called out Radhe Maa's fraud, there are others who are strongly in support of her. The newest to join the defenders' list is Sonu Nigam. The singer had yesterday put out a few tweets saying that the controversy around Radhe Maa is sexist. In his tweet Nigam said, "Just my 2 pence. Kaali Maa is depicted in lesser clothes than Radhe Maa. Interesting that this country wants to sue a woman for her clothes." His remark on Goddess Kaali, obviously, did not go down too well with the Hindu activists and has landed him in legal trouble.
Ramesh Joshi, chairman of Dharma Rakshak Mahamanch, filed a complaint against Sonu at the Samta Nagar Police Station for having insulted the Goddess by comparing her to the so-called Godwoman and hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. Another complaint has been filed at the Sakinaka Police Station.
While reports earlier claimed that an FIR has been filed against the singer, deputy commissioner of police M Dahikar confirmed to a leading daily that there is no FIR filed against Sonu yet, though they have received complaints against him.
