There is no doubt that Sony TV has been the talk of the town. After the shutting down of Pehredaar Piya Ki and news of its resurgence, buzz is that the channel is going to give Kapil Sharma a long break to recover and rejuvenate. The channel is coming up with its hugely successful reality show Super Dancer 2 from end of September. Once, that goes on air, the channel plans to take The Kapil Sharma Show off air for some time. It is being done to give Kapil some time to revamp the format and work on his health issues. A source told indianexpress.com, "Super Dancer will take The Drama Company’s time slot of 8 pm, while the latter will be pushed to Kapil’s air time of 9 pm. The channel is waiting for Kapil to recover and get back fit and fine. If and when it happens, the show might get the 10 pm slot.”
Kapil Sharma has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. From reports of cancelling shoots at the end minute with top stars like Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan to tales of his binge drinking, there is too much bad publicity around him. The latest story doing the rounds was that of how Ajay Devgn left the sets rather miffed after Kapil failed to turn up for the star cast of Baadshaho. The buzz is that channel honchos have given a verbal warning to the star comedian as well.
The source also told the portal, "Kapil has been genuinely unwell and needs time to get back. The channel is not giving up on him but giving him time to recover and also get his charm and magic back. It would indeed be a good break where we can come back stronger and with a much better content. Anyway, there were always plans for revamping the show and this time can be utilized for the same. The Drama Company is for a finite period and if its season two doesn’t happen, Kapil might even get its 9 pm slot.” Seeing the current scenario, it seems like a good move from the channel to restore the fortunes of the show.
