Sushant Singh Rajput starrer M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story is a biopic based on the life of current ODI captain of India Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Yes this is an old news we agree but this update on the same isn't. A source close to the development has exclusively revealed to BollywoodLife that “The movie will end with India’s victory at World Cup in 2011 and the developments that happened later will not be highlighted in the movie.” Now we don’t know if the makers chose to ignore this part or was it Dhoni’s request to erase it. We all know that Dhoni’s name was involved in a few controversies surrounding Indian Premiere League (IPL). Just ahead of the 2013 Champions Trophy in England, Dhoni was accused of holding stakes in Rhiti sports who were managing him and also Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Pragyan Ojha. The company denied the allegations and declared that he did not have any stakes at that particular time. Former Cricketers were unhappy over Dhoni’s alleged conflict of interest as they all suggested the captain to sell his shares if he had any. Since he was leading the team in all three formats besides leading the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, there were fears that some players would have an unfair advantage regarding team selections.
Later in year 2013, N Srinivasan’s son in law Gurunath Meiyappan was questioned for his alleged links with the bookies and his proximity with the franchise was questioned. It was claimed that he was never a team official and was only an enthusiast. Dhoni was heavily questioned during the court hearings and was even accused by a prosecution lawyer of not being honest. However the case was settled then as no charges were proved against our captain cool. (Also Read: Sushant Singh Rajput has a sweet message for BollywoodLife)
So if you are wondering whether or not the biopic will highlight any of these issues, you are completely wrong. The makers wanted to keep their movie away from controversies as far as possible. As a result, the decision to not include the issues was pretty justified. Also we are sure Dhoni will not like anything against him being shown in his biopic, which is why we are sure he might have not permitted them.
Let’s not get sad about this fact. India lifting a world cup after a gap of 28 years was equally important.
