Baahubali and its sequel are two of the most successful movies that Indian film industry has ever churned out. The two movies have set a benchmark with the VFX used, the critical acclaim and love from the audience it received. One popular trivia about the SS Rajamouli directorial is that Sridevi was offered the role in the films. She was to essay the role of Rajamata Shivagami. The actress turned down the role, and it was eventually played Ramya Krishnan. The role was an important one in the film, and fans could not come to believe the fact that Sridevi let this one go. There are numerous rumours and speculations about what led the actress to make the decision, though neither the makers nor the actress have ever spoken up about it openly. During a recent interview with Rajeev Masand, Sridevi was asked if she has seen Baahubali, and the actress replied in negative.
Rajeev was skeptical about asking the actress as to why she did not pick the film, so he only questioned Sridevi is she has watched the film. "No. To be honest, I didn't see the movie." she said. Further she added, "But I would like to talk about this. It has become such a big issue and people are imagining things [as to why I have said no the film]. I have my own reasons. First of all two parts of Baahubali have come out, and now they are asking me. There are many films, I refused. Why are they not talking about it? Why only this film? I will go there and talk about it."
