So who made the headlines this week?
I would be not wrong if I said it was Salman Khan who stole the show this week, for both right and not so right reasons!
So let's find out what he has done, and should not have done, along with three other newsmakers!
The Sultan trailer is FINALLY OUT!
Bhai-tards can finally rejoice! For Sultan had made his arrival in grand style! The trailer of Salman Khan's wrestling drama was launched earlier this week, and it was definitely very good, though not as mind blowing as the first teaser! While we could see that Salman Khan has taken a lot of efforts to get into the skin of the character, something he hasn't done for ages, I felt the trailer revealed a bit too much about the plot. But still, the trailer promised Sultan to be a very different Salman Khan film, and we are praying with crossed fingers that the promise stays true!
The Salman Khan - Arijit Singh controversy
While fans were elated over the Sultan trailer, something happened later that night that hampered the celebrations. Arijit Singh posted a message for Salman Khan on Facebook, ' begging' him to retain a song of his in Sultan, and that not to let a past incident cloud his judgement. The past incident happened to be a a small tiff at an award function two years ago between Salman and Arijit, which no one thought mattered. But it did. And Salman is in no mood to forgive. Though Arijit later deleted the post, everyone had picked it up by then. Some thought Arijit was unnecessarily dragging Bhai into a controversy, while other felt he shouldn't have begged to Salman Khan.
Aishwarya Rai's Sarbjit gets trounced at the box office
After Jazbaa, another film of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan floundered at the box office, with Sarbjit not performing enough up to the expectations of the public. The film was criticised for the over-melodramatic treatment and Aishwarya's screechy performance. This was tragic since the premise and Randeep Hooda's performance deserved better. However for some strange reason, the makers of Sarbjit were under the impression that the film worked and threw a 'success' bash! Perhaps they still had money to give away!
Sid - Alia to star in Aashiqui 3
Yes, the most loved pair will star in the upcoming installment of the romantic franchise (though I have no clue why they want to make a franchise out of Aashiqui...can't they just use an original name, instead of exploiting an old hit film?). The rumoured real life couple has been everyone's favourite young pair after their chemistry clicked in Student of The Year and Kapoor & Sons. Plus, this is homecoming for Alia, since Aashiqui is a Bhatt property!
Veerappan, Phobia, Waiting gets released
No superstars had any release this week, but three small but promising film came out this Friday. Ram Gopal Varma returns to Bollywood with his take on Veerappan's killing. Though we saw glimmer of his old talent in the film, he was let down by poor performances. Waiting...depended on the powerhouse performances of Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki to deliver the goods. Phobia was the best of the lot, thanks to Radhika Apte's brilliant performance and a different premise!
