Sunny Leone's Ragini MMS 2 to face stiff competition from Kanti Shah's MMS Kand

The B-grade movie director has decided to compete with Sunny's upcoming film Ragini MMS 2

“Sex is not a sin”, “Sex is divine”, “Sex is spiritual”, proclaims the trailer of MMS Kand, B Movie king Kanti Shah’s latest effort. For those not familiar with the cult of Kanti Shah, here is a primer. Above everything else, he made Gunda, which released in 1998. Gunda ostensibly stars Mithun Chakraborty, but in reality the Disco Dancer is reduced to a sideshow while the villains, fuelled by some truly brilliant, instantly cult dialogue by Bashir Babar, took centre stage. Here’s a sampler:

Mukesh Rishi plays the main villain Bulla. His introductory line is: “Mera naam hai Bulla, rakhta hoon main khulla.” Shakti Kapoor plays his effete brother Chuttiya whose introduces himself with: “Mera naam hai Chuttiya, achche-achon ki main khadi karta hoon khatiya.” Mohan Joshi’s introduction: “Mera naam hai Pote, jo apne baap ke bhi nahin hote.” And perhaps the best of all is Harish Patel’s: “Mera naam hai Ibu Hatela, maa meri chudail ki beti, baap mera shaitan ka chela, [indicates his crotch] khayega kela?

It is by virtue of this banana eating awesomeness that Kanti Shah enjoys cult status amongst the urban literate and irony-free acceptance amongst the clear-eyed rural. He has made more than 50 movies and popular titles besides Gunda include Loha; Kanti Shah ke Angoor, the film that the young protagonists sneak out of school and watch in Vikramaditya Motwane’s Udaan; Garam; Free Entry; Duplicate Sholay; Daku Ramkali and many more. Kanti Shah is so cult that memorising and reciting lines of dialogue from Gunda are almost mandatory in the lanes of Aaram Nagar, Mumbai, in order to get admission into that not so exclusive club of hairy, unwashed men and women who live in fetid squalor while dreaming of an Indian cinema renaissance without realising that the revitalisation has already taken place in other parts of the country.

Kanti Shah’s latest, like many of his films, stars his wife, the indefatigable Sapna Tanveer, a large jiggling mass of cellulite who isn’t afraid to flaunt it. The trailer, presented here for your delectation, features her in several postures of flagrante while two separate men film MMS videos of her. There is also another lady present, chiefly for the purpose of taking her clothes off. Sapna also periodically bursts into song, the pick of which is the evocative ‘Kas ke pakad, aise jakad, mar jaoon baahon mein teri.

The world awaits Kanti Shah’s latest effort.
