Malayalam superstar Dileep was brought to the court in Kochi in a police van from Aluva jail (where he was taken to, on Monday) today amid tight security. The actor's lawyer, K Ramkumar, filed for a bail but the court said it would hear their bail request only after two days, when the police will be done interrogating him. The police had requested for a three day custody but the court granted them only two.
Police sources have said that they are investigating allegations made on Dileep that he offered a man Rs 1.5 crore in 2013 to attack the actress and wanted the assault recorded on a video and nude photographs clicked. The police have alleged in a report to the court that Dileep wanted to take revenge from the Malayalam actress for revealing his love affair with Kavya Madhavan (his second wife) to his ex-wife Manju Warrier. He believed that it was because of her that his marriage fell apart, allege police.
The 48-year-old actor has been charged with criminal conspiracy, rape, kidnapping and wrongful confinement. The actress in question was physically abused in a moving car for over two hours by at least four men in February this year. The incident sent a shock wave across the Malayalam film industry. While six people have already been arrested, including the main accused Pulsar Suni, Dileep was arrested on Monday night after 5 hours of questioning. The actor was later also sacked by the Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes.ALSO READ: INSIDE account of Dileep’s first day in Aluva Jail as Prisoner no 523
All evidences speak against Dileep but his lawyer says his client has been trapped in a conspiracy scripted by "a very fertile imagination." While being taken to the prison, Dileep told the media, “I am not scared of anyone as I have not committed any crime.”
